DDR Memory
For certain business-oriented NAS servers, Synology offers the ability to upgrade RAM capacity to reach a higher state of performance and reliability. The DDR RAM module have been customized and fine tuned by Synology engineers so they work fully with the servers and will greatly lower the chance of system crashing due to compatibility issues.

ECC Memory
Synology ECC RAM Module is designed especially for Synology XS-series to expand memory capacity. ECC RAM is predominantly used in servers to combat against the likelihood of errors strikes introduced during data storage or transmission. While the applicable models are capable of holding 3 extra modules, the Synology ECC RAM Module is fully-compatible and is part of the official recommended memory expansion kit. An installation guide is enclosed within the accessory kit to take you through the installation procedure.
